Rhode Island Law Firm Campaigns to End Distracted Driving

Texting behind the wheel

The U.S. Department of Transportation has designated April as “Distracted Driving” Awareness month, a time to remind millions of Americans about the dangers of all types of distracted driving. For the past several years, The Bottaro Law Firm, LLC has supported the effort to curb distracted driving. As of April 2015, we have created our second annual public safety campaign to increase awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.

This year, our 30 Days to Wipe Out Distracted Driving campaign will include daily tweets and other social media efforts to raise awareness throughout the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Tweets will stress that “distracted driving” is the practice of driving a motor vehicle while engaging in any other activity. This includes monitoring a GPS device, making phone calls or texting, changing music on an iPod player, eating while driving, etc. In recent years, texting while driving has been a major distraction amongst teens and adults alike, causing thousands of motor vehicle accidents. It is time to put an end to all distractions behind the wheel.

At the Bottaro Law Firm, LLC we plan to accomplish the same goals as the National Safety Council: to prevent as many people as we can from using cell phones while driving and to convince people that hands-free devices offer no safety benefit due to their ability to cognitively distract the brain. Join us this month for the second year in a row and take the pledge to end distracted driving!
