Laura has over 20 years’ experience as a litigator, arbitrator, and mediator. In addition to her current practice in injury and nursing home litigation, Laura has focused her practice on complex commercial law, construction law, and water law.
An honors graduate of Northwestern University, Laura went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School. She joined Bottaro Law in 2013, after serving as a partner in a Providence construction and commercial litigation firm.
Laura has successfully tried complex cases from discovery through jury verdict. She has represented plaintiffs and defendants, as well as corporations and individuals. She has been recognized in her field with the highest, AV preeminent rating, by Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Ratings.
As a neutral, Laura serves as an arbitrator and mediator to parties before the American Arbitration Association and the state and federal courts. Laura leans on her over twenty years of litigation experience representing plaintiffs and defendants to provide a fair and efficient process for both sides. She also volunteers in the Rhode Island state courts as a pro bono mediator to help parties resolve their disputes in lieu of a hearing or trial.
As a lawyer, Laura listens to her clients’ stories and enjoys helping them seek justice. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning a groundbreaking ruling for the rights of nursing home patients. Her clients, the surviving family of an elderly woman who had broken her hip, was forced by her nursing home to sign a document that gave up her constitutional right to a jury trial. Because of this favorable ruling, nursing homes in Rhode Island must now ensure procedural fairness when presenting arbitration agreements to their patients.
When she is not working, Laura can be found spending time with her husband and their two young children. She trains for and runs obstacle and trail races.
