Attorney at LawLaura Bottaro
Laura’s father, also a lawyer, first inspired her to go into the legal field through his hard work and humble service to his clients. She sees her role in personal injury law as one of multifaceted responsibility that requires transparency, care, honesty, and perseverance. As an advocate for the injured and hurt, Laura strives to be a leader in the community and support organizations that work to do the same.
An honors graduate of Northwestern University, Laura went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School. She has been practicing law since 2000 and joined Bottaro Law in 2013 following serving as a partner in a litigation firm. Laura has successfully tried complex cases from discovery through jury verdict.
As a lawyer, Laura listens to her clients’ stories and enjoys helping them seek justice. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning a groundbreaking ruling for the rights of nursing home patients. Her client, an elderly woman who had broken her hip, was forced by her nursing home to sign a document that gave up her constitutional right to a jury trial. Because of this favorable ruling, nursing homes in Rhode Island must now ensure procedural fairness when presenting arbitration agreements to their patients.
Laura’s experience includes handling complex business litigation, construction litigation, and water law litigation against insurance companies, corporations, and individuals. In a suit seeking insurance coverage for a client’s residential construction claims, Laura won a sanctions award against the insurance company that prohibited the company from asserting late defenses in an attempt to deny coverage. Her success going up against large corporations and insurance companies helps her fight for maximum compensation for injury victims every day.
When she’s not working, Laura can be found spending time with her husband and their two young children. She trains for and runs Spartan obstacle course races, and she was invited to the world championship race. Laura also plays piano and sings in her church’s worship band.
