ChatThe public’s perception of motorcyclists involved in accidents is generally that they are more dangerous on the road than other drivers. They are perceived as riding loud bikes, wearing leather and just generally not being safe on the road. How do we change the jury’s perception during a trial?
With all of these negative preconceptions, it is important to humanize the motorcyclist. We had a client who was in her late 50’s, she had four grandchildren, and she was riding a cruiser on her way to a charity breast cancer awareness bike ride with her husband. Obeying all traffic laws, she was struck by a vehicle and sustained some injuries.
In this case, we were able to overcome the bias and stereotypes. We illustrated and established that the motorist was at fault for causing this collision.
