This past weekend, seven motorcyclists were killed in a motorcycle accident in Randolph, New Hampshire.
According to CBS Boston, the motorcycle accident occurred on Route 2 in Randolph, where a Dodge pickup truck with a trailer attached collided with a group of ten motorcyclists. These motorcyclists were all part of a non-profit organization called JarHeads MC, a club that includes Marines and their spouses.
New Hampshire State Police Col. Chris Wagner stated that this crash was “one of the worst tragic incidents” according to The Washington Post. The seven deceased bikers each died from “blunt trauma” and hailed from all around New England, one being from Riverside, Rhode Island.
Three of the riders were injured from this motorcycle crash treated at various areas, all ranging with different severities of their personal injuries. One man was flown to Maine Medical Center to be treated, whereas two other injured bikers were treated and released from local hospitals in the area.
The investigators identified the pick-up driver as a 23-year-old employee of Westfield Transport, a company in Springfield, Massachusetts. According to NBC News, the driver of the pick-up truck has been charged with seven counts of negligent homicide.
Dawn Brindley, a survivor of the crash, told CNN that, “It was just all fire. I just laid my bike down and I just rolled.” Another survivor, Scott Swann, called the motorcyclists “good, hard-charging Marines.” Both Brindley and Swann returned to the scene of the accident to place an American flag for each victim.
Members of the motorcycle community has already begun assisting the families, “When something like this happens, we all feel it,” Cat Wilson, a friend of some of the victims and organizer of a motorcycle charity event in Massachusetts tells USA Today.
