Distracted driving is the leading killer of American teens. It includes:
- Using a cell phone
- Eating and drinking
- Looking in the mirror
- Watching videos
- Changing the music
- Using a GPS
36% of teens say they’ve been involved in a near‐crash because of their own or someone else’s distracted driving.
11% of all drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crash. This age group has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted.
