The holidays are a great time for giving back to the community. One of our favorite holiday traditions is donating toys to the AIDS Care Ocean State community and toys drive that they host each year!
What is HIV and AIDS Care Ocean State?
When someone in the United States is infected with HIV and is not treated or caught early enough, it can turn into a late stage, known as AIDS. As a result, AIDS Care Ocean State will act as an advocate for individuals and families at risk.
It provides support services needed to ensure and maintain a high quality of life for the people we serve. Our personal injury law firm also tries to serve the local communities of Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. As a result, we have seen a number of folks that we have helped along the way with different diseases and health conditions.
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is an infection that attacks the body’s immune system. Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is the most advanced stage of the disease. HIV targets the body’s white blood cells, weakening the immune system, according to World Health Organization.
HIV and AIDS Care Ocean State in Rhode Island
Over 3,000 people are infected with HIV/AIDS in Rhode Island alone. 91% of HIV/AIDS cases are between the ages of 30-50+ years of age, according to the Center for Disease Control and the Rhode Island Department of Health.
According to AIDS Care Ocean State, the history of their non-profit organization is pretty amazing. Paul Fitzgerald founded the Family AIDS Center for Treatment (FACTS) in 1987 to address mother to child transmission of HIV. He worked tirelessly to find members, establish housing, preventative care, and counseling to families affected by HIV/AIDS.

In 2010, AIDS Care Ocean State celebrated its 20th anniversary. We look forward to providing essential services to persons living with HIV/AIDS until there is a cure. When we first heard about AIDS Care Ocean State, it was around the holiday season and they were accepting donations and hosting a toy drive in Providence, Rhode Island.
Their non-profit organization is located right in the middle of downtown Providence, on Broad Street. They always have something going on in support of the local community and we try to stay involved as much as possible. Their organization relies on our support and other individuals in the community to help them reach their goals.
AIDS Care Ocean State offer a wide range of programs and services. They aim to provide comprehensive care to persons living with HIV/AIDS in Rhode Island. They offer housing support, including subsidized housing for persons living with AIDS/HIV, support groups including family counseling, and even a Prevention Center for free, anonymous, and confidential HIV testing and more.

We are excited this holiday season to continue our support and help donate to their toy drive. This year, they are going to be hosting, “Adopt A Family.” To participate, our Ministry Care Team will receive a family to shop for and donate toys to in order to bring a little more joy to the struggling families.
A gift of even $50.00 can help ensure that a family here in Rhode Island can have food, warm clothes, and heat for their home this holiday season.
The Ministry Care Team will be adopting families and opening it to the Bottaro Personal Injury Lawyers and legal assistants to also adopt a family and help put a smile on a child’s face this holiday season.
