Court-Annexed Arbitration is Required When Filing a Lawsuit in Rhode Island
The court-annexed arbitration process is important to understand if you have been in an accident and are considering filing a lawsuit in Rhode Island. We start this process by filing papers with an impartial lawyer or judge in order to be able to present your case at a hearing.
During the hearing, both sides present testimony, and the arbitrator will then issue an arbitration award. This award is a non-biding award. Either party is free to reject it. If that occurs, your case would then proceed to towards a trial. If neither side rejects this, then your case becomes settled as a judgment based on this award.
