Navistar Inc. has recently issued a safety recall for 12,539 International brand trucks that are at a risk of unintended movement when the parking brake is in use. According to the report, this defect may result in personal injury or property damage.
More specifically, when the brake is applied and the auto transmission is still in drive or reverse, the stationary power takeoff switch is engaged – causing the engine rpm to ramp up and possibly causing the parking brake to not hold the truck in place.
The four models of trucks that were recalled are medium-duty work trucks that are usually used for deliveries, dumping, and towing. Because of a program that was not enabled in these vehicles, potential personal injuries could occur from the vehicle moving without intend of traveling.
