Today’s blog covers a recent RI rear-end car accident one of our young clients found themselves victim of. Learn about the medical interventions she needed to recover and how we landed her a top-notch settlement!
Company Driver’s Mistake Costs Bottaro’s Client Ability to Walk, Sit, and Sleep Properly
One day, our young client was driving in South Kingston, Rhode Island, obeying all traffic laws. As our client approached a red light, she slowed down. Unfortunately, the company driver behind her failed to follow suit. Instead, the at-fault driver later admitted that their foot got caught under the brake petal. This caused the driver to slam directly into the back of our client’s car!

Pictured above is our client’s car right after the accident. It sustained over $8800.00 worth of damages.
Our client reported feeling immediate back and neck pain. Emergency responders transported our client to the hospital, where she was quickly placed in a C-collar, used to support and immobilize an injured person’s neck to prevent further injury.
Two weeks later, our client returned for a follow-up appointment and reported bilateral hip pain. While delayed, our client’s hip pain often presented as a strong, shooting pain that prevented her from getting adequate sleep, sitting for any length of time, and using stairs.
Not only did our client’s delayed hip pain take some time to manifest… but manifest it did. Our client endured months of physical therapy with limited results. Four months into feeling pain, our client was diagnosed with left hip dysplasia, causing a labral tear. Pain interventions included dry needling, joint injections, cortisone (steroid) injections, and continued physical therapy. It took over 10 months for our client to be discharged from PT with intermittent pain.
Our client’s fender bender changed her life. The things we take for granted – sitting, walking, and sleeping – were stripped from her the day she was rear-ended.
Do I Need a Hip Dysplasia or Labral Tear Diagnosis to Financially Recover After a Car Accident?
Not necessarily. However, for you to financially recover, your attorney will need to demonstrate that your car accident caused your personal injuries. That’s why it is critical that you seek medical attention as soon as possible! Not only will doing so give you the best chance at recovery, but it will help your personal attorney injury demonstrate your difficult journey after the accident.
Our client did the right thing by seeking medical assistance after the rear-end car accident. In our client’s case, she immediately felt pain in her neck and back. However, the prolonged pain, that ultimately manifested the most in her left hip, took weeks to fully present itself. We were able to highlight this turn of events per her medical records.
Experiencing delayed injuries after a car accident is common. After a surprising car accident, our bodies release endorphins that naturally protect our bodies from feeling the full extent of pain. Our adrenaline clouds some or all of our pain! However, delayed onset of injuries should not prevent you from obtaining a top settlement like today’s client. Call us today with any questions about your specific injuries!
As a personal injury law firm with decades of experience, we are grateful to be part of the silver lining in our client’s story. We successfully negotiated a $72,500.00 settlement to cover our client’s medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering that follows after a traumatic, pain-inducing accident. While we want our RI and MA communities to stay safe on the roads, accidents happen. And we look forward to helping you navigate yours!
