On February 17, 2015, we announced the Bottaro Law Firm, LLC’s “Don’t Text & Drive” Scholarship. The application window is still open, and we encourage all undergraduate students to apply before the May 1, 2015 deadline. The $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one deserving student on June 1 for the Fall 2015 semester.
About the “Don’t Text & Drive” Scholarship
The Bottaro Law Firm, LLC established the “Don’t Text & Drive” Scholarship for two primary purposes:
- To help one deserving student cover the costs of their education, and
- To raise awareness of the risks of texting while driving.
According to recent surveys, 25 percent of drivers under the age of 20 respond to at least one text message while behind the wheel, and 20 percent have long texting conversations when they should be focusing on the road. As a result, 10 percent of all fatal accidents caused by teen drivers are directly related to distracted driving.
Upperclassmen are equally at risk for causing accidents due to texting and other distractions: Over a quarter of all distracted drivers involved in fatal accidents are in their 20s.
Given these grim statistics, Mike Bottaro and the Bottaro Law Firm, LLC are dedicated to the cause of putting an end to texting behind the wheel. Now, we want to hear how you are contributing to the cause as well.
How to Apply
