The National Safety Council recently announced that the United States has reached over 40,000 traffic related deaths for the third straight year. Distracted driving can be labeled as any type of activity that takes the driver’s eyes and attention off the road. The most common types of distractions are:

The National Safety Council states that Rhode Island has declined by 9.4% in traffic related fatalities. One of the biggest improvements Rhode Island has made to stop distracted driving was launch the hands free law this past summer. Since June 1st, 2018, Rhode Island introduced a law that prohibits drivers from using hand-held devices except in case of emergency.
