Bottaro Lawyers Volunteer at Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center in Warwick, RI

At Bottaro Injury Lawyers, we believe in helping our community both in and out of the courtroom.  We have a volunteer program wherein we pay our team to serve worthy, local organizations.  Recently, we had the opportunity to serve at a non-profit organization in Providence, Rhode Island called the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center.  This nonprofit has been serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault for over 44 years.

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center was founded in 1979 as the Elizabeth Buffum Chace House.  This was a Community Improvement Project of the G.F.W.C. Warwick Junior Women’s Club.  As such, the Chace House’ initial purpose was to provide immediate, temporary shelter and support services for women and children in domestic violence-related crises.

Original services (which continue through to present day!) include the crisis hotline and the safe shelter.  Over the years, the Chace Center has added services to address the those who are unable or not ready to seek shelter, and to include male abuse victims.

Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center’s Meaning to Rhode Islanders

Elizabeth Buffum Chace.

Why “Elizabeth Buffum Chace” Center?  The nonprofit is named after Elizabeth Buffum Chace, a prominent Rhode Islander who lived during the 1800’s.  Elizabeth was an influential activist dedicated to improving women and children’s lives.

In 2004, the Chace Center opened a Community Center in Warwick to better serve community-based clients.  EBCC is a member of the RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  Its mission is to end the perpetration and societal tolerance of interpersonal violence, including all forms of domestic and sexual abuse.  The RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s mission is to provide comprehensive services to victims and education in the community.

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center offers a variety of programs and support, ranging from court advocacy, law enforcement advocacy, counseling and support services, crisis case management, residential services, and professional training.

Bottaro Injury Lawyers’ Alissa, Renee, Melanie, and Bianca Spend Time Giving Back To The Community

It is important to our personal injury firm to help those who have sustained personal injuries through their relationships.  Unfortunately, these personal injuries often go unnoticed.  To do our part, four ladies from our firm signed up to participate in our visit to the Chace Center.

Shoutout to Alissa, Renee, Melanie, and Bianca for volunteering their time during the busy work day to help them their donation closets, storage, and more!

“It was a rewarding experience working at the Chace Center. Seeing the smiles on their faces, knowing that we helped them and made a difference really reinforced why we like giving back!” – Legal Assistant, Bianca

The Chace Center is a busy place and the employees become overwhelmed.  It was awesome to be able to go out there and help the nonprofit for the afternoon.  We want EBCC staff to be able to allocate more time towards their clients instead.

“Helping the employees organize their stock room of items for families in need was really gratifying.” Legal Assistant, Melanie

Donna  met with the firm’s team member as a representative at the center and was very appreciative of our hard work.  We are blessed to work with the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center and are impressed with the grace and hard work it offers our community.

Bottaro Injury Lawyers has volunteered at a number of non-profit organizations in the local communities including SoJourner House, The Ronald McDonald House, the Rhode Island Food Bank and more.  We look forward to volunteering here again in the future!
