Camp Lejeune is a United States military training facility located in Jacksonville, Onslow County, North Carolina.  The region has a large watershed in low land adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean and also a sizeable military presence.

Camp Lejeune opened in the early 1940s and continues to serve our great country today.  In December of 1942, the military named the camp for a former Marine Commandant, Lieutenant General John A. Lejeune. He wanted a population of marines, sailors, retirees, their families, and civilian employees that would have the buildings and facilities of community support.

What Are The Camp Lejeune Toxic Water Lawsuits All About?

For years, the watershed in the Camp Lejeune area was grossly toxic.  In fact, the water was so toxic that many have reported it is one of the worst examples of water contamination in recent memory.  As we will describe in more detail, such toxic water is known to cause harm to humans in many ways that can contribute to life changing disease and death, including various cancer. For years, veterans, their families, and other people in and around Camp Lejeune in fact suffered great harm due to this toxic water.  Until recently, it was difficult if not impossible for our military veterans and others to seek justice for such harm.  In short, in August 2022, the president signed a new law that provide expansive legal rights to those harmed.  Here at Bottaro Law, we are helping our local victims locate in our Rhode Island and Massachusetts communities get just for harms caused at Camp Lejeune.
